About: i am yoyoy. from the pearl of the orient seas. (ask google). i love to dream and i live in fiction. this is fictitious and i am just your imagination. no, i am not a ghost. i am an element, just like you. this is a documentation of my wonderings. general events inside my head that i would love to share. or not. i only need an avenue for my thoughts. otherwise they'd burst inside my head and i would lose brain cells. and die. which is why i need a hug. or a kiss, if you will. to let me move along and continue on with daydreaming inside my head.
life sucks and then you die: I like how tumblr turns purple for the gay people that committed suicide, but not pink for breast cancer awareness month...

No disrespect, but this is true.

I know what you mean, but this is about showing support and bringing awareness to something that a lot of downplay or straight up ignore. Breast cancer barely needs any more awareness worldwide than it already has. This is something…

okay.. so i saw the blog post of my friend abbie almasco about how people almost or actually did shun the people suffering from breast cancer over those people suffering from bullying due to their gender. and then i saw the post above. ^

now, before i give my full reaction, i would like to state first that i feel for both sides. i have a gay brother who knows all too well what it feels like to not be accepted for who he is. now while he did have the support of his family, the people beyond the walls of his home weren’t all that understanding. i’ve seen him cry and i’ve seen him defend his people. and as God as my witness, i swear, anyone who as much as point an accusing finger at him because of his gender will be torn into tiny little pieces by my bare hands.

having said that, i have the full support of those who wear the purple ribbon. heck, i’d buy one or at least make one for myself (if i had the materials). it is unfair how ignorant the rest of society can be when it comes to other people’s sexuality. just because they are attracted to the same sex doesn’t make them any less of a person, nor does it make them bad people. i blogged about that here.

however, this very point isn’t reason enough to actually disregard breast cancer, or cancer in general. no matter how long it’s existed or how “aware” people are about the condition, this still doesn’t give anyone any right to stop the advocacy or spread the word that “Breast cancer barely needs any more awareness worldwide than it already has.” It’s like saying one should stop spreading Christianity cause it’s been around for, oh, what? two thousand years? and people already get it and they know who God is and they know that He was killed by Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. so why bother spreading that “awareness” right? why lift a finger? for all the good that it did?

There are no derogatory names for those who suffer breast cancer. They are not beat up, harassed and made to wish they were dead.” « now this statement is just downright insensitive. yeah, people don’t do that. you know why? because people suffering from this condition already feel that themselves. the moment they got the awful news, they already feel degraded. on good days, they beat their own self up just to make sense of it, and on bad days, they wish they were already dead. so yeah, people don’t do that.

“It’s a different situation all together”.damn right it is. so there’s no reason why one should shun the other. each needs the same awareness and the same attention of society. it’s a big spotlight, it’s the world stage, i’m guessing both can share?

my love and support to the gay community is solid. and same goes for my affection to those who have been stricken by cancer. if we must all spread awareness, why not talk about both? wear a pink and purple ribbon. one couldn’t have too many ribbons now, could there?

p.s.

it’s comparing Twilight to Harry Potter! » okay… uhmmm.. what? who’s twilight, and who’s harry here? uhmm.. yeah. okay.
